After visiting Polignano a Mare and enjoying our first evening there, we woke up to realize the Air BnB we were renting had neither hot water or heat. I could have lived without heat. But no hot water? Nope. We are out.
We decided to move on to Rome a day early and we found ourselves in Bari with a couple hours to kill while waiting for the next train. We better grab some food as the selection on the train might be poor.
First thing we found was McDonald’s. Merilynn suggested we try a Big Mac just for the comparison, like I did with Starbucks’ in Venice. Since I wouldn’t set foot in McDonald’s in CanadaI wouldnt have a reference point to compare the Italian version to anyways.
Moving on.
Theres a Kebaberia or Dim Sum quite close to the train station but we found neither appealing.
We did eventually find Jerome’s, a bakery/sandwich cafe with a nice looking selection of desserts to boot.

I told Merilynn to pick a sandwich, so she got a Cornetto with ham and cheese.

While hearing the Cornetti made the eating experience better, it destroyed the lettuce. That should either be added after or omitted entirely. After we removed it the sandwich turned out to be really good. My first couple Cornettos in Italy were too bread like, I wasn’t sure I was going to like them as much as croissants. The last few have been nice and properly flakey.
A great Cappuccino.

Italuan coffee has got to be the best in the world.
A treat to finish things off, Tiramisu.

A nice creamy tiramisu though not as rich. Less Mascarpone I think. Very tasty.
I know I’ll never be back to Jerome’s. If you find yourself with a couple hours to kill in Bari waiting for a train and, like me, hate Raunchy Ron’s, pop in here for a quick bite and a great coffee ☕
