As we did in Rome, I wanted to stay somewhere fairly close to the main center of Florence so we didn’t waste a lot of time going from the hotel and back. We only had a day and a half in Florence and there was a lot to see so taxis and buses weren’t really high on our list to spend a lot of time in.

I found the Market Urban Hotel about two blocks from the train station and only three blocks from the Duomo. Well situated for a quick in-and-out, seeing as we were leaving via rail to get to Venice to catch the flight home.

Google has The Market Urban rated at 4.7 and I think that is perfectly accurate. It’s no Ritz Carlton, but it’s clean, modern, well staffed and the location really can’t get any better.

We had originally only booked one night here. When I phoned to add a second night we were unable to secure the same room for both nights so we ended up with two different rooms. Which actually ended up being a good experience. The hotel staff gave us our new room keys when we left for the day in the morning and moved our bags from one room to the other for us. When we came back later in the afternoon for a rest we just went right to the new room as if we had been there the whole time.

This room even included a free mini bar.

It was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the TV even has some English stations.

Our first night came with a free continental breakfast the next morning, one of the better free breakfasts I’ve seen.

The other side of this galley style bar had a nice selection of pastries and other breakfast items in warmers.

For some reason on our second morning we sat down for breakfast but for some reason it want included that morning. Which to us didn’t make sense of the time. The second night was actually the more expensive room. The only thing I can figure is we used points for the second night so maybe they don’t include the breakfast when you use points? Regardless, the manager on duty was very kind and waved any fee for us as we’d already sat down and started eating. Excellent customer service.

Room two was a bit nicer.

It was a bit bigger and includes a semi private balcony for catching some rays. Room two was as clean as the first and the bed just as comfortable.

The be.st thing about this hotel though was the location. Everything we needed was right nearby. The

The Duomo, the David, the Mercato Centrale, dozens of restaurants and the train station all within a few blocks. Add the great service and the clean,modern rooms you really can’t beat The Market Urban.

Just bring a thick wallet with you.
