I booked a couple nights here in November when I was up visiting my son. We normally stay at the Sandman a couple doors down but I thought I’d save a few bucks since I was on my own this trip. It’s a convenient location on Hwy 97 and 5th avenue.

There’s a pool and a hottub.

And there a a few restaurants within a few minutes walking distance.
So just to compare prices, a night at the Sandman usually runs us around $120. The Camelot Court came in at $75.
How could I go wrong?
Let me count the ways.
Imagine a bad hotel room. Now times that by 10.

On first glace it’s probably not the worst room you’ve ever seen. Fortunately for you you can’t smell it. Based upon the smell, I would estimate, the smoke of 3 billion cigarettes over the last 70 years have permeated every nook and cranny of that space. I suspect the only hope of ridding the world of that foul smell might be a nuclear option.
But the smell was only the beginning. I flipped on the desk light.

Ewwwwwwwwww.
I went into the bathroom.

and looked in the sink…

Looks like someone has been cooking some meth in there.
The tub wasn’t much better.

Only a “little” dirty.
I’ve been in this room for 5 minutes and I’m simply appalled. It’s $75 though. Grin and bear it. I don’t actually have to be in the room all that long. Just to sleep.
Sleep? Ya that didn’t happen. I think I managed to get a couple hours. By 2am I was wide awake, unable to rest due to the smell. I tossed and turned til 4.
It was at this point I threw in the towel. I grudgingly stepped into that tub to shower, the soap dispenser exploding in my hands the moment I touched it, then packed my bags and got the hell out of the evil place.
At 5 am I walked into the front office, checked out, willing to forgo the seconds nights fee, and walked over to Starbucks to kill a couple hours until the kids woke up. Where I promptly booked a night at he Sandman we usually stay at.
How anyone in their right mind thinks renting a hotel room out in that condition is shocking to me.
I will say though the front desk staff was extremely helpful. Upon hearing my complaints the clerk refunded both nights and apologized profusely. So props for that.
But as decent as that was of them, I won’t ever be back. And now I’m very wary of these older hotels around the province.
When looking for a place to lay your head in Prince George, I suggest you stay as far away as you possibly can from the Camelot Court.
