Pasta Urbana

I’m trying to use AI more effectively these days.

Instead of spending far too much time using Google maps and online reviews to find a great pasta restaurant close to our hotel in Roma, I gave Claude a couple instructions and within 2 minutes I had our destination, Pasta Urbana, just 500 metres away, picked out.

It’s a cute little restaurant with a nice wine selection.

We picked this one, medium bodied, dry with notes of vanilla and berries. It was excellent. We will be in the Montepulciano area later in the week. I’ll look for it again.

(my phone has been doing his weird black and white thing of late)

One thing I really like that restaurants do here is how they serve the bread.

Heres the bread station, with the bags of bread piled high ready to go.

No baskets to get dirty or take up space on the table. The bread comes in a bag. Keeps it fresher. And you can grab and take it to go if you don’t finish it.

Scenes from the restaurant.

As we are here for the pasta, we are both getting a Primo, then I will get a Segundo that we will share.

I went with a Carbonara like dish, Rigatoni with crispy guanciale.

It wasn’t quite as rich as a true carbonara, which was fantastic. Carbonara is sometimes hard to finish for me. Not this though. The guanciale was very well cooked, no fatty bits as I too often find.

Merilynn decided on the Ravioli stuffed with Ricotta and served with cherry tomatoes.

Very fresh flavours with a nice filling, the acidity of the tomatoes pairing nicely with the richness of the ricotta. A good sized portion for her.

Tiramisu for dessert.

I would have like to see a bit more custard in this one, but very good nonetheless. Very similar to the one I make actually. Nice presentation though.

Wih the plethora of restaurants in Rome, it’s so hard to find a good one. Claude did a really nice job of picking a good one out for us.
