Cardero’s

Situated in a perfect spot on the Seawall in Coal Harbour you will find a really nice spot, Cardero’s.

There’s a great bar, though it doesn’t have a view unless you turn around. But plenty of large windows offer great views from many of the tables and there’s a great patio to enjoy in the nicer weather with amazing views of Stanley Park and the mountains in the background.

The interior is contemporary casual with an elegant but comfortable and welcoming feel. The restaurant is divided down the middle by the bar to give the whole place a more intimate feel.

They have a separate kitchen viewing section that would be a neat spot to watch the kitchen in action if you’re a foodie like me.

As it’s a week day so it’s not very busy. We decided to sit at the bar. It’s our usual choice when we hit the local Cactus or Ke. A mistake here though considering the location. No view except for the bartender. I won’t make that mistake next time.

On the lunch feature menu today is fish and chips, with the fish being ling cod. As we are seaside that sounds brilliant.

Decent sized piece of fish and it very well cooked.

The batter was very light and crispy. The fish was flaky and delicious. The fries were really crispy too. They didn’t have any gravy, my preferred condiment for fries, however they had a pepper demi. Even better!

With what so far is great good, great views, a nice atmosphere and great service Carderos seems a great spot.

One I will return to.
