Diabolica Wicked Red 2024

I really wanted to like this one. The name promises a bit of devilish fun, the label is eye-catching, and we were looking for an easy-drinking red for this cold Friday night. Sadly, the only thing wicked about it was how fast I wanted it to be over.

The nose didn’t give me much to go on. It was muddled, with none of the fruit or depth I look for, and the first sip confirmed it. It tasted thin and harsh, with a sharp edge that never settled down. There was no real structure, no balance, and a finish that lingered longer than it should have, and not in a good way.

Look, not every bottle is going to be a winner, and I’m happy to take a gamble on something new. But this one gets just a 2 out of 10 from me. We didn’t even finish it. It went down the drain, and we opened up something much better from Deep Roots instead. Skip this one and put your money toward something better.
