Caffe Montanucci

Caffe Montanucci turned out to be our local coffee bar for the 4 days we stayed in Orvieto.

We made numerous trips here for coffees and pastries each day.

Its quite large inside, with an indoor and outdoor seating area over two levels.

Honestly our preferred spot is “al Barco,” just standing at the bar drinking our cappuccino.

Though a couple times we sat at a table.

The cappucinos were always excellent. The Cornetti baked fresh daily. Though I still prefer a croissant.

Pro tip: When in Italy having your coffee “al Barco” is always cheaper.

There was an excellent selection of pastries daily.

We tried a delicious cherry tart one day.

They gave lots of cakes and tarts to choose from.

They have a nice selection of gelato. Though we never actually tried it. We came in one evening around 8 to give it a go but they had put it all away already.

At night it turns into a bar. But for that we liked FEBO just around the corner.

The staff was always friendly, though we did get a couple confused looks when we ordered coffee “al barco” like we were Italians or something.

Caffe Montanucci was our “home away from home” while we were away from our “home away from home.”

Consider making it your coffee go-to when you are in Orvieto.
