After a very nice dinner at Brix and Mortar, three doors down we found The Banter Room.
A pretty trendy, and popular spot right in the middle of Yaletown.
While we were primarily here for drinks, 5 Gin and Tonics later as evidence, they have what appears to be pretty good food as well.
We tried the Beef Gyoza which were very good. Nice flavour in the Gyoza itself and the soy glaze paired well.
We also had a chance to try the shrimp, which were actually better than the Gyoza.
And it looks like they have benedict on the brunch menu. I will have to come back and try that.
For drinks we were throwing back Gin and Tonics all night. The Gray Whale gin was our favorite of the ones we tried. That will be next on our shopping list for home.
The vibe here was great up until about 11:00 pm. Then all of a sudden the lights got very dim and the music got a lot louder.
So much for our Banter.
So my general recommendation would be:
If you are older than 40 go early, get a table, have some drinks and a snack and good conversation.
If you’re 20, wait for us old folks to get tired and show up when we leave to go to bed. Then you young ones can scream at each other all you want.
