It’s lunchtime on St Patrick’s Day. I know what your thinking. Where can I go for a really terrible burger and green beer? Well do I have the place for you!
Mosey on over the the John B pub for the best in awful burgers.
This is the Salmon burger. “Made in house” it proudly states on the menu, trying to convey the inherent quality of something homemade. I’m not going to question the validity of that statement. What I will question is the qualifications of the person who made it.
Imagine if you will a pile of food with almost no flavour. There is the mildest flavour of salmon, which begs the question. Is there more filler than fish here. Another question. Do you know what salt and pepper are? The taste of the burger would suggest otherwise. The watercress and fennel salad added only texture. Every few bites you get an oh so small, albeit tantalizing, citrusy tease on your palette from the lemon mayo. Just enough to give you an idea of what this burger could be. It really is an offense to the sea creature that gave its life for my lunch.
Today is St Patrick’s Day. There will be many, many people through these doors today. I only hope, for their sake, they avoid the Salmon burger.
PS. Reports from my lunch companion say to avoid the John B burger as well.
