New West BC
After an almost three year closure thanks to covid the River’s Reach has re-opened under new ownership.
It’s my first time here, but Merilynn has enjoyed the Rivers Reach many times in the past. I understand it had been rated in the top ten pubs in BC.
First thing of note is that the menu has changed. For what looks like the worse. Apparently the food in the past was very good. Today? Not so much.
Of the few offering on the menu that interested us chicken wraps are what we both agreed on.
We are quite used to some really good chicken lettuce wraps at the other restaurants we frequent. These weren’t even close. The idea isn’t bad. But the execution was. The hoisin sauce seemed very oily. Plus there’s the chili oil. And I’m not sure how they managed it but the chicken was very dry. In a very oily dish. Not a lot of flavour at all actually. The crispy noodles were the best part of this dish.
I will say though that the ambiance is great. Service was good as well. And they made a killer Caesar.
I think we will have to give it another chance, but neither of us were happy with the experience.
