Decided a sandwich for lunch was in order today.
And there is no better place to get on in New West. Ok I haven’t tried the Bahn Me place on Carnarvon yet so will reserve judgements somewhat. But so far G.I. has my favorite.
If I’m lucky they won’t be sold out of Lobster Tails..
Our favorite sandwich, the Ariccia, a Sfogliatelle and a Zeppole.
Starting with the sandwich, it was very good as usual. However the focaccia seemed extra oily today. Our hands were very greasy after finishing the sandwich.
The sfogliatelle (actually all they had on hand today) was overbaked. We did get the lightest baked one but it was still excellent. The pastry was very light, flaky and crispy with a delicious chocolate cream.This is one pastry that I will never tire of.
The Zeppole was overbaked as well. But it didn’t hold up as well as the overbaked lobster take. It was very dry inside. Even with the cream. Neither of us enjoyed it.
So maybe not the best food we have had here.
I still highly recommend it.
