Bay Breeze Restaurant And Bar

After losing 60 bucks at the Silver Reef casino we decided we need some food. And none of the restaurants at the casino were open.

So off to Birch Bay we went and found the Bay Breeze.

We had our pick of tables as we were the first ones in the place today. We got a seaside table window. Like literally.

Without the window in the way I could probably touch the water.

Pretty astounding lunch view.

I’m kicking things off with a Homemade eggnog.

For $8 this should probably have been a bit bigger. But wow was it good.

With aged tequila and sherry it packed a pretty good punch. But in a good way. Often the alcohol in eggnog has that raw alcohol taste but this didn’t. It was smooth, creamy and well balanced.

I would have ordered another if it wasn’t eight bucks.

For lunch we ordered two shareables.

First one was the Salmon Potstockers.

The idea here was really good. However not the best execution.

I wouldn’t use an egg roll wrapper for starters. A spring roll wrapper would work better. And they were over fried. Way too crunchy.

The filling was quite nice though. That mango chili sauce was quite good and helped soften up the very crispy wrapper.

Then a pan seared crab cake with a remoulade.

Now that’s a crab cake. It was perfectly seared with a nice crust that was moist in the middle and had huge chunks of crab.

I assume that since we are in Birch Bay that crab is local. I should have asked.

As a baker I’m a sucker for good bread so I also got a slice of grilled sourdough from a local bakery.

Ya it’s a little too toasty but it’s a great piece of bread.

Can you see those holes? Great crumb structure. It had a wonderful crust, which is the best part. One day I’ll have to search out that bakery.

All in all it was a very pleasant lunch.

Great views, good service and pretty decent food.

I’ll definitely be back.
