New Orleans LA
I first ate here 5 years ago the first time I was in NOLA. The food was so good we ordered a second go around.
It also just happened to be across the street from our hotel this trip.
We were able to get a balcony table overlooking Royal street. Though we had to eat nn a slant. It was fun though. Great atmosphere!
We shared the Taste of New Orlean’s plate. Included were Gumbo, Jambalaya, Etoufee and Red Beans and Rice.
Did you know Louisiana State is the 3rd largest producer of rice in the US?
The Gumbo and Jambalaya were nice. I wouldn’t have minded a little more kick from the Cajun chicken and a little more smokiness from the Andouille, but both excellent nonetheless. The Red beans and rice were good, but nothing to write home about. However….. this must be one of the best Crawfish Etouffes around. The tomato base sauce was creamy and wonderfully balanced. Crawfish were perfect. No heat in this one at all. But that’s ok! It’s amazing.
My second trip here and it was just as good as I remember the first time.
