Coquitlam BC
I’m at Cactus Club. Seems like I’ve been here a lot lately. Sorry Brown’s, Cactus has better food.
This time to hang with the boys and watch the Lions get booted out of the playoffs – again! Canucks are on the other tv and ya they got smoked too.
Bad night for Vancouver sports.
But at least you can rely on the food here.
The prawn ravioli is up first tonight.
It’s stuffed with butternut squash and marscapone cheese with a truffle butter sauce, pine nuts and crispy sage.
It’s very good. In fact it’s so good that when Merilynn joined us we got more.
That’s a half portion of the entreé version.
The sweetness of the filling with the truffle butter sauce is truly a wonderful taste. Add the pine nut crunch you’ve got a winner here.
We also had the prawn crunch roll.
Very good sushi for a non sushi restaurant. Think dynamite roll but better. It’s the mango, asparagus and soy glaze that really elevate this dish.
The G and Ts were great. The Heineken cold. The Protea from South Africa a very pleasant red.
Once again I can’t really complain about my visit to Cactus Club.
