New West BC
Another one to cross off on my New West breakfast bucket list.
Amelia was recommended by a few people.
If first impressions are anything I should not have listened to them.
Think 70’s greasy spoon with a slightly updated interior. Honestly I’d rather it looked like it was still in the 70s. That is one of the things I enjoyed about Jim’s Cafe. Though that’s one earlier decade at least.
Against my better judgement we tried the Eggs Benny. Good thing I didn’t have high expectations.
The Eggs Benny at Amelia is $14. And it’s exactly what you’d expect for $14.
The eggs were poached nicely though. And they were accomodating and put bacon on instead of ham. The advertised “special” Hollandaise was, well let’s just say not really all that special. Pretty bland actually. But it did the job.
The OJ was about as far away as you can get from “freshly squeezed” as you can get. But it was only $3.50. So compared to Bruncheria’s $8 OJ a much better value. Next time I’ll just get a coke methinks.
The service was very good. The staff were friendly and prompt.
So dollar for dollar when it comes to breakfast in New West, skip everything and head on into Vanvouver. Where there are actually really good breakfast joints.
Food 5/10
Value 5/10
Service 7/10
Ambiance 4/10
Overall 5/10
Here’s a link to OEB. The breakfast here is what I would call good. And it’s not too far away from New West. A bit pricey, but good quality. If you can get in…..
