I love donuts!
Well good ones anyway.
And Yum’s are growing on me.
First time I went there, shortly after they opened, I really wasn’t all that impressed. But over my last few visits I’m changing my mind.
A couple weeks ago we had the Zesty Lemon. As lemon is one of my favorite flavors I did really enjoy it.
Today I tried the raspberry chocolate.
This was another excellent donut.
The dough itself was light and fluffy, just how I like it. The chocolate icing balances the raspberry tartness perfectly. And that streusel! Seems almost homemade.
Hmmm, hold on a sec. Something is piquing my professional baker curiosity. None of the ingredients seem to be commercially made. So I made some inquiries with the staff inside. As it turns out they make everything from scratch.
That warms the cockles of my heart. They get bonus points from me. To see the love and attention put into these donuts is really amazing. I try to use this same approach when I bake and cook at home. It’s becoming much more rare these days in our commercially prepared world.
