Vancouver BC
Meeting some friends for brunch this morning at their local spot.
I did check out the menu beforehand and it does look promising. It does give an impression of “elevated” food, not just your boring everyday breaky.
It’s not very big inside and the tables are pretty crowded together and it was busy this morning. Fortunately a table cleared just as we walked in the door.
Merilynn went with the breakfast burrito.
I had a small bite and found the flavour good but it was dry. That’s the exact same that she reported to me. Ordering extra sour cream and salsa helped out.
They have 8 different Benedict’s on the menu which for those of you who like something different is great. Me I’m a little more traditional.
I ordered the Eggzotic Benedict.
The Benny itself was excellent. The egg was poached perfectly, it couldn’t be better. The sauce was nice, the bacon was crispy and it had sliced avocado. I was totally expecting guacamole.
The biggest complaint either of us had was the potatoes.
They had been par cooked, probably way too early in the day, and were barely warm on our plate.
They had a crust but it wasn’t a good crispy fried kind of crust. It was a they’ve been sitting around too long dried out kind of crust.
If they were refresh and piping hot they would have been fine.
A return visit may happen. There were a few things on the menu that looked good. But it won’t be for my brunch.
