New West BC
I had recently read a post on the Eat New West FB page that Jim’s Cafe was closed for an unknown length of time.
I was uptown this morning for an appointment and decided I’d walk by and have a look. I was surprised to find it open!
I’ve been to Jim’s before. The cafe itself is a bit of an experience in time travel. It will take you back decades, in a good way. It reminds me of the coffee shops my grandfather took me to when my grandmother was getting her hair done. You can smell the 1950s in there somehow.
I’ve eaten here before and it was pretty good. I’m gonna try the Farmer breakfast today.
2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of ham, 2 slices of toast and hash browns.
For me, when you consider all the variables, that just might be the best breakfast in New West.
Crispy bacon, tasty but not dried out sausages, the shredded potatoes has the crunchy outsides and fluffy insides. Sunny side up eggs nailed.
The quality of everything was very good. Considering the $14 price tag you really can’t go wrong.
I’ve been eating my way through New West’s breakfasts and have not been impressed by many.
Jim’s Cafe impresses me.
