It was at Tosho Knife Arts buying myself a very nice chef’s knife that Café Diplomatico was recommended to us by the staffer who sold me my knife. We had mentioned we were on our way to Little Italy and she said that is the place to go.
I’m not sure if this is the original location, but they have been open since 1968. They are doing something right.
The place was packed but we were fortunate enough to get the last table on the patio.
We started with Arancini. Risotto balls deep fried with Marinara for dipping. Really good flavour, maybe could have been a touch cheesier for me. But the thing about this dish is the textures. You get the crispy fried outside with the gooey inside. A wonderful combination.
The Canneloni stuffed with meat and topped with rosé sauce. That’s not like any rosé I’ve ever seen but whatever. It really was delicious. I could have easily eaten 7 or 8, not just the three.
I had a really good iced latté as well.
With such great food it’s no wonder Café Diplomatico has been around so long.
