Burnaby BC
So as near as I can figure its been about 42 years since I’ve been here.

I don’t remember much about it. Well to be frank I don’t remember much about this morning. However when I walked in a few memories did seem to trickle back.
I can’t imagine much is the same as it was in 1979. But I don’t think much has changed either.
After looking into the kitchen through what seems to be the same glass window that I did when I was twelve we picked a table in the corner. Could that possibly be the same fire pit in the centre of the restaurant?
A friend of mine, who usually has pretty good taste in food, doesn’t think much of the pizza here, so I was quite interested in how things would go tonight.
We tried the Gangster tonight, being that it was Italian night at Me & Eds.
A spicy blend of salami, pepperoni, Capicollo and Italian sausage with onions. We customized it by taking the fungus grown in shit off one half, then adding pineapple to said half.

This is a thin crust pizza. Thinner than Heidi Klum after a three month Atkins diet. That did give it a great undercarriage. It was very crispy and it held up well. It’s different than a Neapolitan style, but still really good.
I prefer the balance of the spicy meats with the sweet pineapple. And of course no yukky toadstools. Why do people eat those awfuls things?
To wash down the pie I had a Steel and Oak ale, produced just down the road from here. It was good, crisp and cold. I’d have trouble picking it out from any other ale though. I should stick to darker beers I think. Or sours.
Overall it was a good trip down memory lane. It just might be another 42 years until the next time I’m looking though that glass window……
