On our way home from running errands this morning Merilynn says “let’s go get a good sandwich”.
Now for me the two words “good sandwich” don’t often go together.
For me a sandwich is just a stop gap til my next great meal.
Two pieces of bread with some meat and cheese between them just doesn’t get me all that excited.
I suggested the Big Star Sandwich Co. One, because we haven’t tried it. Two, because it’s two doors down from my favorite donut place.
We went with Beef Barley soup and a #25.
The soup is not made in house. But it was fine.
The #25 is turkey, bacon, provolone, lettuce tomato, crispy onions and Mack sauce. The turkey was moist, hand pulled from a real turkey. The bacon was kind of thin. I could see through it kind of thin. But was crispy and tasty. The crispy onions were what made the sandwich. A great texture in there. The Mack sauce was likely mayo with a BBQ sauce of some kind. It suited the sandwich. But I wont be buying a bottle of it to take home. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bun. A crispy baguette would be much nicer. But overall tasty enough.
There’s certainly no shortage of selection here, and the service was quick.
If sandwiches are your thing maybe try the Big Star Sandwich Co. One thing I can say….it’s better than Subway.
