Victoria Crawl stop 4
Down the hall behind the Jumbo Cafe is Little Jumbo, a speakeasy.
It’s a small, intimate little place, but very inviting.
The only seats available were at the bar as it was pretty packed.
I’m just gonna go ahead and tell you now, this was by far the best stop on our tour tonight.
It’s “elevated.” And it’s a good elevated. Watch for the Chorizo and Co review for the opposite of “good elevated.”
For drinks I had the Hunt Club Punch, a bourbon and apricot tea cocktail. While I enjoyed it, I will say that it is a cocktail not meant for everyone. More savoury than sweet, could probably use a touch more maple.
Merilynn had a Toulouse. I’m gonna go out on a bit of a limb here. This was likely the best cocktail I’ve ever had. Ever. Period. End of story.
Gin, Aperol, rosemary and lavender, with a toasted rosemary sprig.
I liked it so much I’m gonna spend $40 importing Lavender bitters to replicate it.
And I liked it so much we had three. At $17 a pop. Yup, they were that good.
It was one of those “wow” moments.
Then came the Appy.
Who doesn’t like chicken wings.
Except that these wings are even better.
Quack quack if you know what I mean.
Geez I may never go back to boring old chicken wings again.
A twist on the traditional 80’s duck a l’orange, they had an orange ginger glaze that I can still taste. Crisp. Yet juicy.
We had a great time with the bartender. Shout out to Chops, AKA Nukes Tavern. He made the time spent there great.
If you have to pick one place to hit on a Saturday night in Victoria, this would be my pick.

This is near the top as one of my favorite dining experiences in a very long time. Maybe since Alizé in Vegas.
